Educational Foundation

Our Eduational Foundation is the not-for-profit arm of our business.  Our aim is to provide funding for all types of primary care education whether it is general or for specific training courses that benefit all levels of primary healthcare staff across the Isle of Wight. 

Much of the funding is donated from the profits of Lighthouse Medical Limited which means that we actively re-invest directly to the Island's Primary Care service.

We believe that by helping to meet their educational/training needs, Isle of Wight primary healthcare staff will remain keen, enthusiastic and able  to provide the  first class healthcare services that  patients across the island deserve.

Out of Hours GP Service

Our GP Out of Hours Service is available to patients outside normal GP Surgery opening hours.  It provides access to medical advice and assessment should you have an urgent problem that cannot wait until your registered GP Practice opens which includes weekends and public Bank Holidays.  

Your call will be answered by a clinical advisor who will ask for details of the problem and depending on the nature of the illness, you may be called back by a doctor and /or:

* Receive advice on how to treat yourself at home

* have a home visit by a GP/ Paramedic or Nurse

*Be asked to attend our base at St Marys Hospital where you will be seen by either a GP or our Emergency Department.

 This service does not replace the Isle of Wight Ambulance service for patients who have a medical emergency.
